This is about the art of warming cold walls and making hard rooms gentle. It is about the art of muting sharp noises and changing the character of a room through shifting light. Unique pieces of textile art have specific properties, surfaces, shapes. They tempt the eye to look, the hand to touch and the heart to be moved. A textile picture speaks a second language as well. The fabric adds a tactile dimension and strengthens the message and the contents of the art work. That is why textile art must be experienced in real life to be fully appreciated. TEXILIA is located In a highly distinctive villa buildt 1906, designed by famous architect Sigfrid Ericson, in Långedrag, Göteborg, Sweden. It houses Scandinavia' s largest display of textile arts, a permanent collection that is undergoing constant renewal. Around 300 art works by about 100 established artists are on display. Weavings, sculptures, textile prints, batiks, braided, twisted and felted works, embroideries, tapestries and appliques are shown in wildly colorful surroundings. You are invited to visit TEXTILlA. To look. To enjoy. To touch. To borrow. To place an order. To ask questions. And if you find something to love, buy it in order to experience the piece on your own wall. Anita Eneroth, knowledgeable interior designer and art connoisseur, will be there to greet you.WELCOME!
